Mean Daddy

Jonah will be 8 months old in less than a week and he has always slept peacefully in his cradle next to my bed. Well last night, Burt made me put Jonah in his own room! He only woke up one time to eat but I still can't believe how traumatizing it was on the two of us!

Cuz I'm Cool Like That

Rockin My Baby To Sleep

Jonah must own the most comfortable high chair ever made, because he can never stay awake in it!

Breakfast Of Champions

We woke up early and hiked up to the waterfall and ate donuts and chocolate milk. Brynlee was freezing, but when the donuts came out, she ate two of them! The whole time she kept saying, these are my fay-bruts! These are my fay-bruts!"

Good thing we had cups because Makenzee desperately wanted to chug the chocolate milk after polishing off two of her own glazed donuts!

You Are 4 Not 14

Kambree loves to go shopping and today I took her to buy some new underwear. She looked for several minutes and finally said, "Well, I love Princesses the most, but today I think I'm gonna buy Hannah Montana underwear. Tomorrow can we come back so and I can buy iCarly ones!"

Goodbye Old Friend

Goodbye Mr. Green Chair, you served your purpose well! You were a wonderful friend to Jonah, always there to hold and comfort him in his time of need. It is with great sadness that he has decided to move on to bigger and better friends! We will miss you!

The Sixth Grader

Makenzee started 6th grade today and is to cool for a backpack! I can't believe how much she has changed and grown this summer.

I also took my last "traditional" school desk picture of her. She sadly informed me that I was done following her around school with my camera! Next year in junior high I am not allowed to get out of my car. I told her I would dress hip and cool but I am forbidden! I'm sure we'll be able to work something out...

I Love To Hike

Burt's been elk hunting for the last 5 days and the girls and I wanted to do something fun since it was the last day of summer. I asked them if they had any ideas and Brynlee raised her hand and said, "I know, I know. Can we go hiking, can we, can we?"

Eternal Beauty

I told the girls we were going to the temple for Family Home Evening and Kambree said, "But Mom, we can't go to the temple yet! We have to change our clothes!" I told her that her clothes were fine and she said, "No Mom! We can only wear white clothes to the temple!"

Copy Cat

We've been patting Jonah on his back for the past seven months and a few days ago he started doing it to us. It's so sweet to feel his tiny little hand gently pat my back.

Makenzee's 1st Horse Show

Makenzee has been taking riding lessons for seven months and today she was in her first horse show. She won three 1st Place ribbons, two 2nd Place ribbons, four 3rd Place ribbons and one Participant ribbon. Most of the classes had 7 to 9 girls in them. She took 1st Place in Western Pleasure and Showmanship, beating out the more experienced riders! Way to go Cowgirl!

Halftime Entertainment

We put Kambree in a two day dance clinic at the high school and tonight she performed during halftime at the football game. Burt asked her if she wanted to go elk hunting with him and she said, "No Dad! I'm dancing on the field with the soccer players while they're resting!

I Love My Daddy

Brynlee crawled up on Burt's lap and said, "Dad, you're beautiful!"

Buckle Up For Safety

Jonah was playing quietly with his toys and then he began to kick and wiggle and grunt and before I knew it, he was almost out of his chair! Looks like we'll be buckling up for safety from now on!

I'm A Big Girl

Brynlee yelled, "Mommy, Mommy hurry quick!" I found her in the bathroom sitting on the potty and her diaper laying on the floor. She said, "I need go pee weally bad!" Sure enough, she went pee in the potty for the first time and she refused to put a diaper on after that. She said, "No, I a big girl now. I need my underwears!" I guess we're officially potty training her now! She wore her big girl panties all day long and would not wear any clothes because she thought they were so beautiful and she didn't want to hide them!

Horse Camp

Makenzee is involved in a 4 week horse camp this summer. She goes 4 days a week at 8:15 a.m. and comes homes anytime between 4:00 and 6:30 p.m. She has had so many wonderful experiences and had lots of learning opportunities. It is so awesome to see her living her dream! But what surprises me most from my little girly-girl, is the dirtier she comes home, the happier she is!

Telling It Like It Is

I gave Kambree two bags of mini chocolate chip cookies and asked her to give one of them to Brynlee. She said, "It's ok, you can do it! You're nicer than me" and skipped off!

Rootin Tootin Cowgirl

My Dad went shopping for Makenzee and they stopped by to give her a birthday gift. He told her she wasn't an official Rootin Tootin Cowgirl until she had this...and she thought it was totally cool!

Disciplining Their Children

Kambree and Brynlee walked into the kitchen with a princess doll covered in soap and wanted me to wash it off. I asked them what happened to the princess and Brynlee said, "Well, the princess hit us, so we put soap in her mouth, so ha!"

Choosing the Right

We were putting the girls to bed and Kambree said, "I'm gonna say my prayers in a mean voice tonight!" I said, "Kambree, when you say prayers, you are talking to Heavenly Father. If you talk in a mean voice, He will be very sad." She sighed heavily and said, "FINE Mother!"

Please Excuse My Pink Bib

Jonah loves his baby food, especially sweet potatoes! He started biting on the spoon and he won't let go, so it makes feeding him a little more challenging and a lot more messy!

My Lost Treasure

Brynlee hasn't had a binky since she turned one. Today she was playing in the toy room and I heard her scream, "MOM! Oh my gosh!" She ran up the stairs as fast as she could and said, "LOOK! My ya-ya! I found my ya-ya!" Then she kissed her ya-ya and said, "I miss you" and stuck it in her mouth.She walked around all day long with her ya-ya in her mouth and even went to bed with it! The next morning when she woke up, her ya-ya had sadly "disappeared!"

Crashing Thunder

Kambree is terrified of thunder! Her whole little body trembles and shakes and she snuggles and squeezes so tight you can barely breathe! An incredible thunder and lightening storm rolled in around 10:30 pm and woke her up. We took her outside and sat on the porch and listened to the thunder shake the earth and watch the lightening light up the sky.She thought it was so cool and decided that she wasn't afraid of the thunder anymore!

Summer Rain Storm

The girls were getting ready for bed when it suddenly started to downpour! Makenzee grabbed Kambree, Brynlee and a big umbrella and said, "Come on guys, lets go sing in the rain and splash in the puddles!"

Jonah Is Seven months Old

Jonah is now eating every 3 to 4 hours as suggested by his pediatrician and is loving his baby food! Carrots and sweet potatoes are his favorites, he tolerates peas and turns his nose up at green beans! Even though we've added solid foods to his diet, he has lost a full pound and weighs an even 17 pounds! He gets so excited when anyone talks to him and kicks and kicks and kicks his legs! He jabbers constantly and picks up anything within his reach. He loves to be outside and enjoys long walks in his stroller. Yes, he is still sleeping in his swaddle blanket in his cradle next to my bed! Daddy is trying to force him out, but we are still putting up a good fight...for now!

Big Girl

We finally finished cutting, building, sanding, painting, sanding again, staining, distressing, staining again and sanding again...and now...

THE BEDS ARE FINALLY DONE!
And Brynlee said goodbye to her crib and slept all night long in her big girl bed and didn't get up once!

Double Trouble

I was cleaning my bathroom and I overheard Kambree say, "Bryn, let's jump on Mom's bed and make her mad. Then we'll say, Mom, your not invited to my birthday! Is that a great idea Bryn?"

We Don't Bite

Jonah ran a low grade fever and had a runny nose for 24 hours and was biting everything he could get into his little mouth. Two day later, his top TWO teeth popped through! That makes four teeth...not sure how much longer he'll be nursing!~

Hunting and Horses = Blah, Blah, Blah

Anybody that knows Burt, knows that he LOVES to talk about hunting, and he can always relate anything back to hunting if you get him off track. Well, he has finally met his match...Makenzee! The girl can't stop talking about horses! It's hard to imagine, but she talks more about horses than Burt does about hunting!

Yep, there's a lot of interesting conversations going on at our house these days! (sigh)
